Home Page - Welcome

Hello There, and welcome.
Quite a lot recently people have been saying to me, "why don't you
put your artwork on the internet so that everyone can see it," well after
many days of taking photos and uploading them you are now looking
at an ongoing project! What you have here is as much of my work that
I can find at the moment, plus some work in progress projects, (where
I will post updates as often as I can.)
As you will notice I am a big fan of movies and great tv, and of comics
and gaming, and love to paint my favourite characters. I hope you find
someone here you like as well.
Finally I wanted to mention that I am not a 'professional artist', I am
just someone who likes to paint in his spare time. My full time job is a
Postman, which often leaves me too tired to paint, hence the reason it
often takes me weeks to finish a project, so don't expect new work
every few days!! Please look around, (click on the page titles above to
view different works on one subject,) and please feel free to comment.
Regards,
      Alan.

Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer

The television series '24' is one of my all time favourite shows ever, and the
character of 'Jack Bauer' one of my tv heroes. Played with amazing focus by
the always brilliant Kiefer Sutherland, Jack went through hell every week to
save all us ordinary folk from the bad guys, making and taking decisions that
no one else would, from becoming a drug addict to bringing down corrupt US
Presidents, and always with little or no recognition of his heroics. So what better
way to paint him than with gun in hand ready to take on the villians yet again!

The Predator

This painting of a 'Predator' is part of a 'cover' I did for a brilliant comic
series of 'Batman Verses Predator', (just my idea of a cover, not a real
cover I did for DC!) The Predator turned out really well, but the Batman
and Huntress figures were 'not so good!' So you won't see the rest of this
until I have done some 'repairs' on them!! (Not all my work turns out as
well as it should!)

Ron Perlman - Hellboy

Hellboy is just a brilliantly conceived character, (and one of my favorites.)
Created by writer/artist Mike Mignola as a comic book character, he grew in
popularity and then exploded into mainstream culture with the release of  the
superb Guillermo Del Toro movies, with the amazing Ron Perlman in the title
role. My painting is from a hilarious scene in the first movie where Hellboy
enlists the help of a corpse called Ivan!

Arwen - Lord Of The Rings, "If you want him, come and claim him!!"

Where do you start with the legend that is Peter Jackson's 'Lord Of The Rings'
trilogy? If I had the time I could spend years painting scenes from these movies!
However, I chose to paint the beautiful Liv Tyler as Arwen because I was so
stunned by her appearance in the movies. Full of the grace and elegance of the elves,
and yet brave and fearless at the same time, she challenged the Ringwraiths to come
and take the injured Frodo from her on the outskirts of Lothlorian.

Linda Hamilton - "Catherine" - Beauty and The Beast (portrait detail)

This is just a head shot of the full portrait that can be seen
on the 'Beauty and the Beast' page.

Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop is a very popular Japanese Anime, (a cartoon to us non
Japanese,) but this is no children's cartoon - this is for adults. It tells the story
of a group of  'misfits' who join together and travel the galaxy as bounty hunters,
and they all have shady backgrounds which come to light as the series progresses.
It is superbly written, with a great music, and was one of the first Anime series
to become popular in the UK and USA. At the time I was so into the show I
just wanted to do a painting with all the characters in, but when I look at this
now I keep thinking I should do a background! It looks a bit empty!
(One interesting cool note, the hero Spike is an exponent of 'Jeet Kune Do' the
martial arts style invented by the late great Bruce Lee!)

Spock - Star Trek II - The Wrath Of Khan.
